Pilsner is a type of pale lager, named after the Bohemian city where it was first produced in 1842. The city is known in the Czech language as Plzeň; Pilsen is its German name, also used in English.
Pilsner Urquell is the original pils, still produced in Plzeň to this day, in what is Czechia's largest brewery.
